THE CLIMATE

What follows is from a publication of the Regional Meteorological Service of Emilia Romagna (SMR) "Il Territorio della Provincia di Forlì - The Territory of the Forlì province". It is based on the SMR and local network data processed by the Local Agro-meteorological department of the Rimini district.

THERMOMETRY

The Rimini climate can be described by the following data based on the Koppen climate classification system:

- Year average temperature: 13,2 ºC.
- Average temperature of the coldest month: 3,4 ºC.
- Three months with average temperature exceeding or equal to 20 ºC.
- Year thermal range: 18,8 ºC.
Considering the above values and based on the above-mentioned system, Rimini climate can be classified in between the temperate coastal and the temperate sub-continental climate .

Regarding the Winkler bio-climatic index, according to a survey published on the Emilia Romagna monthly magazine "Agricoltura" (Agriculture), no. 1/1992, issued by the ESAVE technicians and completely inserted into the integrated production regulations adopted by the Region since 1993, the Rimini area ranges between 1600 and 1800 degrees/day. The section no. 6 of these regulations defines Rimini as a mainly hilly territory, with low and middle-fertile areas and generally characterized by reduced rainfall».


PLUVIOMETRY

IThe rainfall pattern in Rimini is very similar to the "Coastal - Po Valley" one. Total year rainfall is on average 754 mm, equally distributed during the whole year, reaching the maximum level in autumn (229 mm) and the minimum one in winter (164 mm). In summer the average rainfall is 188 mm and in spring is about 173 mm.
